Membership and Board Opportunities

Kirk Centre is looking for community minded individuals to join us in creating a unique community hub environment in the heart of Dovercourt and for all the surrounding communities.

What is asked of our Board Members?

The Board of Directors of Kirk Centre sets the strategic direction for the facility and ensures there are sufficient resources to accomplish the Centre’s objectives. The Board sets ethical, legal and financial management policies, ensuring that Kirk Centre has adequate resources to advance it’s mission.  The Board selects and supports the Centre’s Executive Director who is responsible for operational planning and delivery. 

 

Board members commit to one meeting per month (usually the 3rd Thursday evening of the month), as well as the time needed to review material prior to the meeting.   You will also  attend the Annual General Meeting, and will receive You will gain non-profit Board member experience, and expand your network while engaging with other organizations to meet the needs of the Dovercourt community.

What are we asking you to commit to as a Member at Large?

  • To attend our Annual General Meeting, just one hour of your time per year.

  • To share thoughts and ideas for community programming and partnerships at Kirk Centre.

  • To receive emails from Kirk Centre that could invitations and notices of community events, volunteer opportunities and new programming.

What are the opportunities and advantages to joining?

  • ​being on the ground level of a grass roots non profit.

  • affecting real change in your community.

  • initiating programming and partnerships tailored to the community.

  • building business relationships within the community.

  • Being a Board member for a registered Alberta not for profit looks great on a resume.

Who can be a member?

  • Anyone who is a resident of Alberta

  • Adults and youth may become members
