Community Animator/Program Director Summer Job

Kirk Centre is looking for a University or College student who is looking for a summer job that will give you experience with community, outreach and not for profit work. Perhaps you're a social work, business, or sociology student looking for some experience?
The Community Animator/Program Director will coordinate public meetings and introductions with key community institutions including but not limited to community or resident associations, faith communities, youth groups, urban indigenous groups, local non profits, sports and recreational groups, health and leisure groups, seniors groups and settlement/newcomer organizations. The Community Animator will build relationships and partnerships to encourage the use of Kirk Centre for worships, presentations, meetings, festival-type activities, sports and recreation for the benefit of the surrounding community and its members. Together with other Kirk Centre staff, the Community Animator will help to develop successful local leadership and help participants improve their communities by offering community minded activities, supports and social events. Support will be provided by the current staff of Kirk Centre. Critical to this position is the ability to implement an approach that is committed to determining and listening to local priorities and concerns for the future, facilitating discussion, providing engaging content, and building capacity for change, all as a catalyst for long term and ongoing community entered activities. WE are looking for an accountable team player who is self motivated towards community improvement and animating the community towards action. Duties could include: Working with and reporting to the Executive Director; Recruiting and managing local community volunteers, coordinating and facilitating visioning sessions and/or polling in the community; planning and hosting discussion Jams online (possibly via Zoom); collecting data from workshops/meetings and preparing reports on a regular basis; maintaining accurate records of project activities (minutes, attendance, results, evaluation, feedback etc..); arranging and coordinating program workshops as chosen by each community group.
